Augmented and Virtual Reality

2018 - 2022

A senior elective in the design department focused on spatial computing from human-centered design approach. A journey from web-based head-mounted displays VR, to social AR, to spatial AR.

The inaugural course on augmented and virtual reality at SVA. Starting as a course at half capacity, after two semesters the course is always overcapacity.

Featuring guest lectures and critiques from New York City-based XR entrepreneurs and large technology companies like Amazon. Collaboration and support from global XR design software providers.

Hack Reality - Mentor

2020
Empower designers to create 3D experiences without waiting for engineers. Provide mental models and cognitive tools, confidence, and introduction to software so they can create and iterate in a cross-disciplinary team. Enable teams to create working prototype over a few days.

In person two day intensive workshop. The inaugural course AR and VR course for designers. Interactive workshops that teach attendees how to map, design, prototype, and deploy experiences across the mixed reality spectrum.

Integrating design into engineering. A guest lecture introducing engineers and business students to modern day digital product design. How to take business requirements and create product requirements for designers and engineers.
